CO. MINOR LEAGUE SEMI FINAL: St. Brendan's defeated Causeway 2-15 to 0-7 last Saturday in a very poorly attended game in Austin Stack Park. St. Brendan's got off to a good start with points from play from Gearoid Sheehan, Cian Hussey, Fionan Mackessy and Padraig Kearney and Causeway stayed in touch for the first 20 minutes, but going in at half time down 0-4 to 0-10. St. Brendan's totally dominated the second half with powerful displays from Kevin Hannafin, Padraig Kearney, Fionan Horgan and Daniel Finnegan all helping to another win 2-15 to 0-7. Team: Ryan Delaney, Aidan Healy, Kevin Hannafin, Patrick Mc Elligott, Eoghan  Courtney, Daniel Finnegan, Iarla Courtney, Fionan Horgan, Jack Savage, Brendan O Connor 0-3, Gearoid Sheehan 1-1, Padraig Kearney 0-2, Fionan Mackessy 0-2, Cian Hussey 0-7, Padraig Casey. CONGRATULATIONS to minor hurler Jack Savage who plays football with Kerins O Rahilly's, on his award as Munster Minor Footballer of the Year. Jack who featured on the Kerry minor football team has already won a Kerry Minor Hurling Championship medal with St. Brendan's this year, and also played last Saturday in the Co. Hurling League semi final defeating Causeway. 
RACE NIGHT FUNDRAISER supporting St. Brendan's Hurling Club will take place on Sunday 29th Dec. in The Abbey Tavern. First race off at 8pm. Everybody welcome and any member of the senior hurling panel can be contacted about sponsoring horses, jockeys etc.      
LOTTO: The St. Brendan's Hurling Club / Ardfert G.A.A. lotto Jackpot last week was €11,600. The numbers drawn were 8, 14, 22, 23.   There was no winner. The draw took place in the Abbey Tavern. The lucky dip winners were: €75 Annette McElligott, c/o McElligott's Bar, Ardfert. €40 Maura Stack, Ballymacquin. €25 Kate Brosnan, Banna Road. Lotto Jackpot now €11,700. The next lotto draw was due to take place on Tuesday, 10th December in Curby's Bar. 
SOCIAL The St. Brendan's celebratory victory social will take place in Ballyroe Heights Hotel on Saturday January 18th. The social will be an event for adults. Senior and Minor championship medals will be presented to players and any U-18 hurler due to receive a medal must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Tickets will be on sale in due course. 
CLOTHES RECYCLING: We are very grateful for the support of this recycling drive and hope to repeat it again in January/February, and we will offer a collection service of bags from householders if necessary.
CONGRATULATIONS to Crotta O Neills GAA Club who received the Bord na nOg Club of the Year Award at last weeks Coiste na nOg AGM.

CALENDARS celebrating our year of hurling including pictures of senior, minor and juvenile teams will be on sale before Christmas at €10 each.
KERRY HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM; Radio Kerry will be naming hurlers from the Kerry hurling championship and are asking for votes form the public to pick a Team of the Championship. Names for all the goalie and full and half back positions were called out last Saturday and can be viewed on our facebook and website pages, with the relevant number to call or text. 
HISTORY LECTURE: Last week’s  slide show of old and new photographs at Ardfert Retreat Centre was given by members of the Ardfert Camera Club and it was another great success. Local history talks will resume again in January 2014.

INDOOR MARKET: Many thanks for the support of the sale of second hand book sale last Sunday at Ardfert Community Centre in conjunction with Ardfert Christmas Market. Proceeds of €150 going to Kerry Parents & Friends Association, supporting adults with learning disabilities throughout Kerry.                                                                                                                                                

ARDFERT N.S. CHRISTMAS SHOWS: There is great excitement in the school at the moment as the school prepares to present its spectacular Christmas shows on December 11th and 12th. The Junior side of the school will present" The Pied Piper OF Hamelin" and the Senior side will present " A Magical Christmas Jigsaw". All 202 children are taking part. With the kind permission of Rev.Fr. Tadhg Fitzgerald the shows will be staged in St. Brendan's Church, Ardfert as the school hall is inadequate. Children are busy learning lines ,learning songs, making costumes, making props and enjoying the drama as they prepare for what promises to be the highlight of the year. DON'T MISS IT!!!!!
