CO. U21 CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINAL: Our U 21 hurlers stepped up to the Causeway challenge in this Co. semi final in some fashion, and ran out winners 2-14 to 1-10 in Austin Stack Park and now prepare to meet Ballyduff in the final this Saturday again fixed for ASP. Led by captain Kevin Orpen who was superb in defence they met the Causeway challenge head on and refused to buckle despite the constant pressure. Causeway went into an early lead, but were soon halted in their tracks by a very determined St. Brendan's squad. Going in at half time up 1-7 to 0-7 St. Brendan's played with increasing confidence as the game went on, and Kieran Fitzgerald risking life and limb to scrape two goals over the line. Points from Cian Hussey 0-6, John Hussey 0-3, David Griffin 0-2 and Daniel Casey 0-3 all added up to a great victory before a very encouraging crowd in the stands. Every player from 1 to 15 played their part in today's victory and its heads down and get ready for the final on Saturday. We appreciate the supreme efforts all this team have to make with college and work commitments and it was heartening to see their delight last Sunday. Congratulations to everyone associated with the win and mentors Liam O Connor, Phil Stack, Liam Hussey with help from Darren O Riordan, Noel Clifford and Tadhg O Sullivan. Once again the support and encouragement from the locals in the stand was very much appreciated. Team: Ryan Delaney, David Fitzgerald, Kevin Hannafin, Killian Wolff, Fionan Horgan, Kevin Orpen (C), Daniel Finnegan, David Griffin, Jack Savage, Cian Hussey, Padraig Kearney, John HusseyGearoid SillesKieran Fitzgerald, Daniel Casey.
