ARDFERT N.S.: Debating Ireland. Last Monday December 16th the Ardfert School Debating Team gallantly contested the Kerry County Final of the Debating Ireland Competition against Loreto N.S. KillarneyArdfert supported the motion “Beauty Pageants help children with their self-esteem". After an exciting and closely contested debate Loreto won and now goes forward to the Munster Semi-Final. Ardfert N.S. would like to wish Loreto the best of luck and hopes that it will follow in Ardfert’s footsteps and bring the All Ireland title back to Kerry. Christmas Show: Ardfert N.S. wishes to thank everyone who supported its recent “Christmas Show”. It especially wants to thank Fr. Tadhg for the use of the Church for rehearsals and performances. The “Christmas Show” realised a fantastic profit of €4,050.40 which was fantastic and and will go into the school’s “General Purpose Room Building Fund”. Gifts for Adapt: This Christmas the pupils of Ardfert N.S. continued their tradition of giving gifts to “Adapt” – the women’s refuge centre in Tralee. The Senior Infants are pictured here holding their gifts before they were sent to “Adapt”.
Spirit of Christmas/Kerryman Art Competition: Congratulations to Sinéad O'Mahony, who won the Kerryman "Spirit of Christmas". Sinéad is a very accomplished artist and is no stranger to the "winning enclosure" at art competitions.  Sinéad won a mountain bike and was presented with her prize last Friday in Killarney.  Comhghairdeas arís.
Christmas Tree Decorations: Well done to the children of Ardfert N.S. who made homemade weather resistant Christmas decorations for the Village Christmas tree in the Village Green. This is a tradition that the children look forward to every year. Take a few minutes over the festive season to stop and admire their creativity. Go raibh míle maith agaibh a pháistí.

ARDFERT COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS TREE AND CRIB EVENT 2013: Happy Christmas to everybody in Ardfert parish from all the Crib & Tree committee, and thanks to the people who braved the poor weather for the ceremony last Sunday evening. Thanks to Fr. Tadgh Fitzgerald, local choir and the children of Ardfert NS for all the tree decorations, and all who helped to arrange the night. Special thanks to Santa Claus and senior hurling Captain Eamon Corridon for attending with the Neilus Flynn cup.
