TIDY TOWNS RESULT: This year Ardfert has improved on its previous years score with an extra 5 points; the result ranks Ardfert 5th out of 12 villages of similar size in Kerry. The Tidy Towns adjudicators constantly commend the contribution and efforts made to the village not only by individual residents but also by business owners, resident’s committees and community organisations. The Tidy Towns Group also thanks Kerry County Council and Rural Social Scheme staff and the small band of volunteers who have helped with litter picks, weeding and planting. The adjudicator’s report is available at www.tidytowns.ie
CENTRA CHARITY WALK: The annual Action Breast Cancer charity walk will take place on Saturday 11th October, leaving Horgan's Centra at 9am. Sponsorship cards available in store, so get involved and support a very worthy cause. Everybody welcome to join in the walk.
HOSPICE COFFEE NIGHT: The Hospice coffee day will be held nationwide this Thursday the 18th September. Kathleen O'Connor from Casement's View, Ardfert has run this event locally very successfully for the last 22 years. Unfortunately Kathleen passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on the 13th August, and the Ardfert Coffee Night will be held in her memory this year to raise funds for a cause very close to her heart. The Coffee Night will take place in McElligotts Bar Ardfert from 8pm on Thursday the 18th. We are hoping for a big turn out from all her colleagues, neighbours and friends so we can meet and remember Kathleen and raise much needed funds. For anyone who cannot attend donations will be accepted by any of Kathleens extended family. If you need any further information please contact Helen Geary on 087-6994899 or Brenda O'Connor on 086-3317101.
