ARDFERT LOCAL HISTORY LECTURE SERIES / SRAITH LÉACHTAÍ STAIRE ARD FHEARTA: lLast wednesday nights lecture on the Ardfert Railway attracted a large crowd and Steve Baker gave a very detailed history on the national and local railways. The next of this season’s lectures at Ardfert Retreat Centre will take place on Thursday, 26 March. The title is now ‘The stranger in Ardfert – as observed by visitors and commentators, c. 17th -20th century’ and the speaker will be Ciarán Dalton. The lecture commences at 8.00p.m. and will last for around 90 minutes, with a break mid-way for tea and a chat. There is no formal admission charge to the talk but all attending are requested to give a donation at the door and all money received is given to the Retreat Centre to go towards its upkeep and maintenance.
