SECOND HAND BOOK SALE will take place on Sunday December 13th at Ardfert Community Centre during the Christmas Indoor Market. Proceeds from the book sale will go to Kerry Parents & Friends Association who support adults with learning disabilities & their families. All support greatly appreciated. ​HURLING AWARDS: ​ The North Kerry Hurling Board awards were presented last Friday night at Ballyroe Heights Hotel. All the NK Clubs were represented & Player of the Match awards were presented for the various NK competitions. Weeshie Fogarty of Radio Kerry gave a great speech where he commended all the young people & encouraged them to stay involved with their sports. St. Brendan’s U14 B Player of the Match was Darragh Courtney & his citation read as follows: Our U14 Man of the Match Darragh had an outstanding game in this year’s final, controlling the game from the middle of the field with his athleticism, strength, work rate & vision. This was the platform which we have built such a successful year on. Awards were also presented to Michelle Costello (Kerry Camogie), Brandon Barrett & Jack Goulding (All Ireland Minor Football), John Tweek Griffin & John Buckley, All Ireland Champions Kerry GAA Senior & Minor hurling Captains 2015, Lixnaw GAA Club Scór Instrumental Group. The Hall of Fame award was presented to Lixnaw man Willie O Connell who served Lixnaw well down through the years & who was a long time delegate to the NKHB. Tommy O Connor did a great job as MC for the night & everybody enjoyed the food served & meeting up again with other Clubs off the field. Copies of the North Kerry Hurling History book were also on sale on the night & are available to buy in local shops around North Kerry. ATLETICO ARDFERT ​ made it three wins from four ​last​ Sunday ​week​ , with a 3-0 win over Na Fianna FC in a solid display despite the tough conditions. Goals were scored by Steven Horan, Michael Maloney & Da ​ vid ​ Griffin. ​ARDFERT/KILMOYLEY COMMUNITY GAMES: Indoor Soccer Training for Girls ​ U​ 10 and ​U​ 13 and Boys ​ U ​ 10 continues on Fridays in Ardfert Community Centre. Girls ​U1​ 0 & ​U​ 13: ​ ​ 5- 6 pm. Boys u10: 6 – 7 pm. Cost €2 per session. Shin guards are compulsory. Contact Kirstie 087-9847639 for further information. The Draughts training continues this and every Friday night for the U10s ​, U12s & U14’s in the Ardfert Community Centre at 7-8pm. This is in preparation for the 2016 Draughts Community Games competition event. Training is open to both boys and girls and no previous experience necessary. Cost is €1 per player per night. The Draughts training is very popular. Bring along a Draughts board and compete in this exciting game.
