ST. BRENDAN’S ATHLETIC CLUB: Well done to St.Brendan’s AC athlete Darragh Courtney for receiving the Munster Star Award for 2015 in category “Juvenile Indoor and Track & Field – Kerry”. The award ceremony took place on 30th January in The Listowel Arms Hotel. 2015 was a very successful year for Darragh in both track and field events where he continued the long family tradition in hurdles and even more impressive field events when he competed in high jump, triple jump, discus and also in multi events for both club and school. Congratulations on an outstanding performance in 2015 and we are hoping for more of the same in 2016! ST. BRENDANS HURLING CLUB AGM is confirmed for Ardfert NS Friday 12th Feb. @8pm. ARDFERT/KILMOYLEY COMMUNITY GAMES: The Ardfert Kilmoyley U-13 indoor soccer boy’s competition takes place on Sunday, February 7th in Duagh at 10am. The best of luck to the team of 8 and many thanks to their coach Billy Stack (Chippy) who dedicated many hours to training sessions. Tag Rugby Training for U11’s and U14’s will commence in Banna Astro Turf on Sunday, 21st February, 4.30pm to 5.30pm. Draughts for the U10, U12 & U14 age groups continues in Ardfert Community Centre, Friday evenings 7-8pm. All new players welcome. Cost €1 per child. Bring along your draughts board and enjoy a great game of draughts. Girls U10 & U13 indoor soccer continues every Friday evening in Ardfert Community Centre 5-6pm. LISTOWEL WOMENS RUGBY: The U15 Listowel/Tralee Girls Rugby Team have been picked next week to go on at Half time in the Irish Women’s 6 Nations game v Wales in Donnybrook stadium next Sat 6th Feb. The Team was picked out of all the u15 teams in Munster to represent the province. They will play against another province on the day at the half time break. They will also have the duty of a guard of honour for the two teams. This is a brilliant opportunity, and also reward from the girls, coaches and clubs involved that have worked hard to promote girls rugby in Kerry. Some of the players and parents would not have seen women’s rugby and will now get to see their heroes in the green jersey defend the six nations in their opening campaign. There will be 2 players in the Irish squad from Kerry Ciara Griffin, Zoe Grattage and also Maz Reilly who has been a great supporter of girl’s rugby in Kerry. They will experience the great atmosphere in Donnybrook Stadium of which will showcase the very best in international women’s rugby.
