KERRY HURLING ALL STARS 2015: The Kerry Hurling All Star Awards was held at The Abbey Tavern, Ardfert last Sunday night & Mike O Halloran was assisted by Radio Kerry’s Timmy Sheehan & Andrew Morrissey. The awards were presented by Martin Ferris TD, a late stand-in for Sean Kelly MEP who was unable to attend due to the late date change. Martin was very complimentary to all the efforts of the hurlers & himself, Mike, Andrew & Tim wished the Kerry hurlers well as they begin their Allianz League campaign next Sunday. Justin Horgan also paid tribute to Bennettsbridge hurlers led by Christy Walsh & also congratulated Tommy O Connor on his McNamee award. St. Brendan’s award winners were Rory Horgan, Darren Dineen & John Egan. The Young hurler of the Year was Shane Conway Lixnaw & the Senior hurler of the Year was Daniel Collins Kilmoyley who is the Kerry Captain for 2016. The winner of the Best Dressed Lady competition was Samantha Stackpoole, Lixnaw, who was chosen by Danny Leane, AnnBurys, Tralee. Joe Hanly was on hand to capture all the award presentations. Thanks to Justin & Kerrie Horgan & their staff for their hospitality & food on the night. ARDFERT/KILMOYLEY COMMUNITY GAMES: The Ardfert/Kilmoyley indoor soccer U13 boys did very well in the Community Games competition in Duagh last Sunday, but lost out to Listowel by a goal. Many thanks to all who contributed to their training over the last few months. Art/ handwriting competition final takes place in Listowel Convent School on the 27th February. Music solo and group Community Games competition takes place on the 20th February in Keel Community Centre and Singing Solo & Group on 21st February in Abbeydorney. Draughts for the U10, U12 & U14 continues in the Ardfert Community Centre, Friday evenings 7-8pm. All new players welcome. Cost €1 per child. Bring along your draughts board and enjoy a great game of draughts. Girls U10 & U13 indoor soccer continues every Friday evening in Ardfert Community Centre 5-6pm. Boys U10 indoor soccer continues in same venue, 6-7pm, Fridays evenings. Shin guards compulsory, Cost €2 per player for both teams. Tag Rugby Training for U11’s and U14’s will commence in Banna Astro Turf on Sunday, 21st February, 4.30pm to 5.30pm.
