ARDFERT/KILMOYLEY COMMUNITY GAMES: It was a busy week for those representing the area in Hurling and Athletics. Our u10 Hurling team was in action on Monday 19th June in Foynes. Sadly, their journey ended there as they marginally lost out by one point to Cratloe, Co. Clare. Well done to the boys and a special thanks to their coaches. Thanks also to the parents who travelled and supported the boys.
The athletics competition took place at the recently refurbished track at An Riocht, Castleisland over the weekend of 24th/25th June. Well done to all our young athletes who took part in the various competitions over the weekend. It was a fantastic experience for everyone. Well done to Aaron Malik who won Gold in 200m and Gold in Discus. Aaron will go on to represent our area at the All Ireland final later on in the summer. Well done to all those who travelled, competed and supported our athletes over the weekend. You did yourselves and the area of Ardfert/Kilmoyley proud. For more updates, photos and results please check out our facebook page on Ardfert/Kilmoyley Community Games.

FEILE PEIL NA nOG: Ardfert U14 footballers travelled to Castlerahan in Cavan to compete in the national Féile finals last weekend. They played their first game against a strong Buttevent team and were defeated on a score line of 1-10 to 3-8. In the second game against Mullahoran of Cavan they won 4-3 to 3-4. The final group game against hosts Castlerahan was played on Saturday morning and Ardfert recorded another win 4-7 to 0-2 which resulted in them qualifying for the Cup semi-final as group runners up. Unfortunately our campaign came to an end with defeat to the very impressive Dicksboro of Kilkenny on a score line of 2-06 to 0-5. It was no surprise that Dicksboro went on to win the final. The lads had a fantastic experience and did themselves, their families and their Club proud throughout the weekend. A special word of thanks to our host Club, Castlerahan, for the excellent hospitality shown to players and supporters over the weekend. Thanks to mentors Ger, Pat & Brendan.
