CLOTHES BANK: Note from the Tidy Towns Group. The Hope Foundation have recently removed the clothes bank that was located in the Abbey graveyard car park. This bank was well supported by the majority of donors but its misuse by a few meant that filthy and unusable clothes and shoes were dumped into or adjacent to the bank rather than disposed of through refuse channels. This meant that Hope were using their meagre funds to collect and dispose of said clothes and shoes.  The Hope collector, who collected in Cork and Kerry, labelled this bank as consistently the worst he had to sort through. Therefore, unfortunately, the village has lost a valuable recycling facility owing to misuse by the few.  In future any usable recycled clothes can be taken to the charity shops in town.
